One of the most important parts of creating lasting wealth is being a good steward of the things you create. This means giving credit where credit is due, but knowing that when those who would give you the credit get it, that credit would be owed to you. This will keep you motivated, and it will keep you from taking shortcuts to gain instant wealth.
Commerce is both the creation of things that will last and the appreciation of those things that are created. When two people create something that they truly appreciate, they will often form a friendship that will remain beyond the time they spend working on it. When you create things that you enjoy making, you’re likely to create something that people will enjoy making too.
What’s a person doing on a day-to-day basis? You can either make up a set of criteria to determine what type of day you’re going to have on your day, or you can decide to just make up your own time. For example, as a businessman, you might create a set of criteria that you believe you can use to determine how much time you spent on a given day.
I can’t believe I’m writing a blog post about this, but I have a few friends who do what I’ve described above. I also have a few friends who don’t do much else besides spending time with their families. I guess it’s a matter of perspective.
It’s funny that you bring up the fact that you cant decide how much time you spend on a day, but that you can decide to make up your own time. For example, I had a client who spent all day playing a game on her PC.
I was on a conference call with my client last night and I had to go out of the office early to do this. She didn’t really care, she just wanted to play the game. At 3:30, I told her that I wanted her to spend the rest of the evening with me, but I asked her how much time she spent in the office. She said about 15 minutes. I asked her how much time she spent in the bedroom and she said 15 minutes.
To make up your personal time, that’s like saying, “I’m going to spend my time writing my book.” You’re literally creating your own time. I’m really looking forward to this game and can’t wait to play it.
You can definitely spend more than 15 minutes in the office. It just so happens that I have a really good time. I have a great time doing things. So I will say that if you are going to spend 15 minutes in the office, you might want to spend 15 minutes doing something else. There are plenty of things you can do and it wont do you any good to spend 15 minutes in the office.
I’m a big believer in the word “consume.” It’s a habit that, in my opinion, is most beneficial to society. You can consume whatever you want throughout your day, and it won’t hurt you at all because you’re spending your time in the most productive way. So the next time you go to the office, do whatever you want to do. You don’t have have to do anything about it.
As it turns out, the most important thing that your friends do for you is go to the grocery store to buy the most expensive things. They are there to look at the best and get their food, and they can’t help themselves by spending a couple hours at the grocery store.
