The first thing you have to understand is that we tend to be so conditioned to think that we are doing things all of the time. I’ve had people tell me stories about how they felt the entire time that they were growing up that they never thought of as, “I would do that.” They felt they had to have all of the time in the world to do what they needed to do.

The problem is, this is a lie. We’re not always as we seem. The majority of the time we’re not doing anything. Sure, we can be aware of our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions. But most of the time we’re just not doing anything.

The problem is when we’re unaware of our habits, routines, impulses, and reactions. Then, we don’t control them. We don’t have the ability to say, “Hey! I’m not doing that!” and have our lives start to repeat.

We’re all so busy doing all these other things that we forget that we’re doing nothing. But in the time-looping game, this is what happens to us. The game is a game of control. So we must be very careful not to let our autopilot habits and routines take over.

The trick is to have a good reason to do whatever you’re doing. For example, I’ve recently been working with an artist to create a new line for her. She has a lot of designs and I was told I could use the designs as a reference for her. So I did. The problem is the designs I found in the wild are not exactly the same as the reference designs.

What made the difference? Well, the artist said she had no idea what the designs were but she knew they were of a kind. I asked her once for a design of her own, and she said no. Then I started asking about the designs I got. They were different. I asked her why. She said it was because the design I was using was not hers.

In case you were wondering, the artist who made a reference design for the game was never the artist of the game.

The designer, who did the design work for the game, has never been the designer, and never will be.

The designer who worked on the game was not the designer who did the design work for the game.

If you’re anything like me, then the “designer” that you’re referring to is probably a former designer who was employed as an engineer at a company that was acquired by EA. The “designer who worked on the game” was not the designer who did the design work for the game.
