Information managers are responsible for ensuring that information is available to employees and customers. The information manager is responsible for ensuring that the information they have is available to all employees, all customers, and all customers’ accounts. This means that the information must be available at all times, in both verbal and written forms. The information manager must be able to work in a team environment, and must be able to collaborate with colleagues both internally and externally.
Information managers have a variety of roles, depending on what information the organization needs. On smaller companies, the information manager may be a part-time employee who is responsible for a single department or department suite. On larger companies, the information manager will be responsible for the entire company.
We’ve often been told that Information Managers should be responsible for the entire company, so we get that. But at the same time it’s not as clear how this role should be defined. It’s like having a boss who is the president, and the president who is the vice president. In reality, they’re the same person, but they have different responsibilities.
At most smaller companies, a good Information Manager is responsible for a single department or department suite. Its an executive job, but one which requires a good amount of management and administrative skills. In most companies, an Information Manager works for a company headquarters. The main role is to provide the company’s senior executives with the necessary information so that they can make important decisions.
If you have this job, think of it as more of a job than a job. Its a job as long as you can get yourself to the office. An Information Manager, however, is responsible to a company. This is an executive position, but it does take up a lot of time and effort. As such, there are numerous career paths and levels.
Information managers are usually the most senior of a company’s executive staff. You may be asked to do things like plan events, write reports, and perform other tasks that are more administrative than administrative. The role of an Information Manager usually requires a degree in business, computer science, or marketing; or you may be asked to do things like run a sales team, recruit new employees, or handle the administration of an operational budget.
The Information Manager position is not entirely new in the games world. There already exist information managers working on the Xbox and Nintendo e-Sports franchises such as Team Liquid.
One of the more interesting jobs that games such as Warframe, Counter-Strike, and League of Legends (and many other games) have to offer is that of an Administration Officer. This person can handle a wide variety of administrative tasks such as maintaining an administrative budget, creating a new task, or managing the IT team.
The administrative position is not necessarily a newbie’s dream position, but it’s quite a well-paying one. I’m an admin at a very well-known studio, so I have to be careful that I’m not being paid to do something that I don’t want to be doing.
This is a common misconception. Administrators do not have to be full-time employees of a company. Most of the work is done remotely. They are generally free to do their own work when needed, but the main work is done by employees.
