Her research shows that the most meaningful changes occur in a small group of people and when they are motivated by a variety of internal and external forces.
Simo’s research has shown that people who are “motivated” to change a behavior or activity tend to be happier with their new routine, and that people who change their routine tend to feel less guilty about it.

It may sound like I am making excuses for myself when I say that my routine is to work out every week. I think I actually have more excuses for myself than I do for myself. I think I feel like saying, “I need to lose weight, I need to lose fat, I need to get in shape, I need to be in shape, I need to be in shape,” to myself every week is like a very annoying alarm clock.
I don’t think I really have any excuses. If I look in the mirror every day, why would I say I have to lose weight? It’s the same thing. I don’t care that there are people who say I should lose weight. I still don’t care. The only reason I look at myself in the mirror is to remind myself to get in shape.
You can have the best of both worlds. You can be in great shape and be in great shape and still have a body you don’t like. Then you can look in the mirror and notice you have a body you like and say, “See I told you so,” and that’s when you start to care.
