In the last 12 months, I’ve learned that I am quite a “tide table” of information. I’m good at what I do and I am pretty adept at what I do. I can tell you a lot of different things and I know which ones I need to know more than others, but I’m also good at getting the information out there and I can be pretty good at sharing it.
It seems that tide tables are kind of like mini-empires in themselves. Ive learned a lot and Ive learned a lot of different things. I can tell you a lot or a little bit about boats, but I also know a lot about tides and tides. I can tell you about tides because Ive been told about them, but I also know a lot about tides and tides.
Although I could tell you a ton about tides I didn’t know in the first place, I have yet to be told anything about tides in the first place. What’s interesting is that if you tell me a lot about tides, the best I can do is tell you about lots of them. It’s like telling a lot about a new car and then telling me less about what models it has.
A lot of people say tides are the best information on earth. I personally believe that they are the worst. I think its like saying a lot about a car and then telling me less about what kind of car it is. If there is something wrong with tides, it is that they are so vague that you cant really tell for sure what they are telling you.
The idea of a tide chart is pretty straightforward. Most tide gauges are based on the height difference between the water and the land. You want to find a tide gauge that is roughly 10-15 inches above the bottom of the water. If there is a 10-15 inch difference in water and land, then that means the tide is rising. If there is a 10-15 inch difference in land and water, then the tide is receding.
A tide chart is simply a map that shows what time of day the water is at an exact location. The problem with maps of this nature is that they are not very detailed. That means that you are left with figuring out a lot of facts about the environment, such as, the tide is going to be higher in the morning then in the afternoon, or that the tide is going to be lower in the evening than at the beginning of the day.
The problem is that every tide-table that is used in the world contains a lot of guesswork. There is no way of knowing how fast the tide will change. There are no charts that allow you to tell where the water is. That means that a lot of information can be lost, or misinterpreted. The problem with that is that this information is passed to the human race in the form of the information that we are given in our textbooks.
As a class, all of us are very familiar with the basic equations that describe tides, but we have very little idea about the actual method for using those exact equations to calculate and forecast a particular tide. This is in part because we have all been taught the equations and how to use them, but we also have been taught that everything is “up to us.” This can be a problem when it comes to making decisions.
You could say that we have all been taught that we are to do what we want. This is true, but we have also been taught that we should not do what we want. For example, the tides of the ocean are controlled by wind and sea currents, not by the weather. The wind could change, the sea might be different in a particular area, and this could change the way that tides are calculated.
This would be considered an “in your face” move, and it can be done by one person, but not everyone can do it. What I’m getting at with the discussion is that if you’re not the person that controls the wind and sea currents, it could be difficult to change their direction.
